Job Description

We are a fast-paced, high-volume retina clinic seeking a motivated and dependable Ophthalmic Technician to join our clinical team. This position will work at both our Baton Rouge and Gonzales clinic locations , depending on the clinic schedule. Applicants must have reliable transportation and be willing to work at both locations. We are specifically interested in candidates with phlebotomy or venous-access experience , particularly individuals who are comfortable using a butterfly needle to establish IV access . Prior ophthalmic experience is preferred but not required . We are willing to train the right candidate in the ophthalmology side of the position. This is an excellent opportunity for a phlebotomist, medical assistant, or other clinical professional who has strong patient-care skills and is interested in expanding into a specialized ophthalmology setting. Key Qualities We're Looking For Phlebotomy and/or venous-access experience strongly preferred Comfortable establishing venous access using a butterfly needle Previous hands-on patient care or clinical experience Ability to work at both Baton Rouge and Gonzales locations Reliable transportation Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical environment Strong focus on exceptional patient care Eagerness to learn ophthalmic testing and clinical procedures Friendly, compassionate, and professional demeanor Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team Job Responsibilities May Include Establishing venous access using a butterfly needle for medications used during ophthalmic testing and procedures Preparing patients for examination and assisting physicians during evaluations Obtaining and documenting patient medical histories Checking and recording visual acuities Performing diagnostic testing and ophthalmic imaging after training Administering eye drops and following established clinical protocols Maintaining accurate documentation in the electronic medical record Maintaining cleanliness and organization of patient-care areas Helping maintain efficient patient flow throughout the clinic No Ophthalmology Experience? We Can Train You. If you already have strong clinical skills and experience with venous access , we can teach you the ophthalmology side of the position. You will receive hands-on training in ophthalmic terminology, testing, imaging, and the specialized clinical skills used in a retina practice. We are looking for someone who is dependable, willing to learn, comfortable staying busy, and interested in becoming a long-term member of our team.
