Duties Collect blood samples from patients using venipuncture and skin puncture techniques, ensuring minimal discomfort and maximum safety. Properly label, handle, and process specimens according to laboratory standards to maintain sample integrity. Assist patients with specimen collection procedures, providing compassionate care and clear instructions. Maintain accurate documentation of collection details in electronic health records (EHR) systems and perform data entry tasks efficiently. Follow aseptic techniques and safety protocols during specimen handling to prevent contamination or infection. Monitor vital signs when necessary and observe patient physiology to ensure their comfort during procedures. Support laboratory staff with specimen processing, transportation, and storage as needed, adhering to all quality assurance standards. Experience Prior experience in medical laboratory work or clinical setting preferred, especially with blood sampling or phlebotomy procedures. Knowledge of laboratory techniques, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology essential for accurate specimen collection. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse patient populations including pediatrics and geriatrics. Experience operating EMR/EHR systems for documentation and data management required. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is highly desirable. Previous hospital or healthcare facility experience is advantageous for understanding clinical workflows. Ability to lift heavy objects safely, stand for extended periods, and perform physically demanding tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
