Responsibilities Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection using aseptic techniques, adhering to established protocols. Prepare and process specimens accurately, ensuring proper labeling, handling, and documentation. Assist in specimen processing, transportation, and storage according to laboratory standards. Obtain vital signs and assess patient condition during specimen collection to ensure comfort and safety. Maintain detailed records of procedures performed using electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems. Follow infection control practices diligently, including proper disposal of sharps and biohazard materials. Provide excellent patient service by explaining procedures clearly, addressing concerns, and ensuring a positive experience. Support laboratory staff with data entry related to specimen tracking and test requisitions. Maintain a clean, organized work environment following safety guidelines. Demonstrate knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to blood sampling. Requirements Proven experience in laboratory procedures, specimen collection, or medical laboratory work. Certification or training in phlebotomy; Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification preferred. Strong understanding of venipuncture techniques, blood sampling procedures, and specimen handling. Knowledge of hospital or clinical laboratory environments and associated safety protocols. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for data entry and documentation accuracy. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations including geriatrics and pediatrics. Ability to perform physical tasks such as heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds), standing for extended periods, and maintaining focus during procedures. Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy relevant to blood collection. Previous experience working in a healthcare setting is highly desirable. "TGIT01"
