Job Summary:

The Phlebotomist I / Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) will represent the company to patients and provide a positive, professional experience while performing blood collection and specimen processing duties. The position requires excellent phlebotomy skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment. The Phlebotomist I will collect quality blood samples, prepare specimens for laboratory testing, maintain required documentation, and follow established safety, confidentiality, and specimen-handling procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform venipuncture and blood specimen collection safely, accurately, and professionally.

Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection and processing according to established procedures.

Demonstrate excellent phlebotomy skills, including the ability to collect specimens from pediatric and geriatric patients.

Explain collection procedures to patients and create an atmosphere of trust and confidence.

Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing.

Maintain accurate patient records, documentation, and specimen information.

Follow established practices, procedures, and safety protocols.

Protect the confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.

Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.

Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment.

Provide excellent customer service and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.

Work independently with minimal on-site supervision.

Demonstrate process excellence, organizational commitment, and attention to detail.

Provide flexibility based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call assignments, and overtime when required.

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience required.

Phlebotomy certification from an accredited school required.

1+ year of phlebotomy experience preferred.

Strong hands-on phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric patients.

Ability to perform quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Keyboarding/data entry experience required.

Strong communication and customer service skills.

Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.

Medical Assistant or Paramedic training preferred.
