Pleasant, Michigan Management 9-5 Regular Full-Time Any Shift Lab - Phlebotomy - Alma 49124 Job Description Summary This position has direct responsibility for the quantity, quality and timeliness of all departmental work. Monitors phlebotomy team in the inpatient and outpatient department areas. Monitors quality assurance and training of new employees and communicates new policies and procedures. Maintains responsibility for quality customer relations. Responsibilities (40%)
  • Coaches, counsels, trains and develops phlebotomy team. Conducts team meetings, ensures effective utilization of laboratory computer system and ensures safe laboratory practices. Monitors productivity, competency of work, and technical accuracy of team. � (30%)
  • Acts a liaison between customers and lab. Solves customer problems (both inpatient and outpatient) in timely manner. Facilitates specialized testing procedures and assists in organizing team participation in community health programs. � (15%)
  • Performs job performance reviews for phlebotomy team. � (15%)
  • Establishes work schedules for phlebotomy team.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborates with the Manager to develop plans for capital and expense budget. � Seeks cost containment opportunities, works with purchasing for inventory control and selection, and evaluates new products. � Collaborates with the Manager to conceive, implement and analyze QA program for team, and develops, maintains and communicates departmental policies and procedures. � Maintains documentation for regulatory agencies. � Monitors technical quality and accuracy of specimen collection. � Demonstrates outstanding phlebotomy skills, knowledge of laboratory tests, nursing home program protocol, call center operations and knowledge of laboratory computer system. � All other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS
� Three (3) to five (5) years� experience working as a phlebotomist in a Medical Center or similar setting required. � Phlebotomy Certification (PBT) through the American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) preferred.� � � Leadership skills needed to effectively direct a diverse team including coaching, counseling, and disciplinary skills. � Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner. � Customer service oriented. � This position must show knowledge, ability, and competence in treating patients who range in age from birth to 100+ years. � MyMichigan Health is a technology driven organization and employees need to demonstrate competency in Microsoft� Windows. � An employee may be required to participate in further learning opportunities offered by MyMichigan Health. �
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death. � Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position. � Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description. � Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s). � Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching. � Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material.� Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required. � Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake. � Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling.� May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis. �
Physical Demand Level:
