Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples and other specimens from patients with professionalism, accuracy, and compassion. Your expertise will support diagnostic processes, patient care, and laboratory operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, excellent patient service skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced medical environment. This paid position offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to patient health outcomes while developing your clinical laboratory experience. Responsibilities Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection using aseptic techniques to ensure specimen integrity and patient safety. Accurately label, handle, and process specimens according to laboratory protocols. Assist patients with specimen collection by explaining procedures clearly and providing compassionate care. Maintain proper documentation of collected specimens within electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems. Monitor vital signs when necessary and assess patient condition during collection procedures. Follow all safety guidelines, including heavy lifting protocols and infection control practices such as proper specimen handling. Ensure compliance with laboratory techniques, physiology knowledge, and medical terminology standards. Support hospital staff by providing timely and accurate specimen collection for diverse patient populations including pediatrics and geriatrics. Maintain a clean, organized work environment adhering to aseptic techniques. Participate in ongoing training related to laboratory procedures, blood sampling, and CPR/Basic Life Support (BLS).
