Job Description

Job Summary:
The Phlebotomist Supervisor is responsible for supervising phlebotomy staff while performing blood collection, specimen processing, and transport duties. This role ensures high-quality specimen handling and supports laboratory operations through limited clerical tasks and coordination with laboratory and clinical teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise and support phlebotomy staff, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and quality standards. Draw and process blood specimens in accordance with established protocols. Transport laboratory specimens to and from the laboratory, physicians, and nursing departments. Assist in the processing of clinic, outreach, and reference laboratory specimens under the supervision of a laboratory assistant, senior laboratory assistant, or technical staff member. Perform limited clerical duties related to specimen handling, documentation, and workflow coordination Maintain compliance with safety, infection control, and confidentiality standards Communicate effectively with the Lab Manager and Laboratory Director regarding staffing, workflow, and quality issues
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required Phlebotomy Certification required (e.g., CPT, ASCP, or equivalent) Minimum of 5 years of phlebotomy experience required Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred Strong knowledge of specimen collection, processing, and transport procedures Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Work Environment:
Clinical and laboratory settings with regular interaction with patients, healthcare providers, and laboratory personnel.
