Job Description
The Laboratory Phlebotomist is responsible for providing safe, accurate, and compassionate specimen collection services to patients of all ages throughout the hospital. The role includes documenting collection information in the laboratory information system, ordering appropriate testing, and verifying medical necessity. The Phlebotomist also ensures specimens are properly labeled, handled, and acceptable for testing, while transporting samples to designated laboratory testing areas as needed. In addition, the position provides patients with clear, detailed instructions for the proper collection of specimens, helping to ensure accurate results and a positive patient experience.
