Under the supervision of the Phlebotomy Supervisor, the Phlebotomist ensures accurate specimen collection, labeling, and handling. They maintain a clean environment, support patient comfort and safety, and help educate and reassure patients during procedures.

• Specimen ollection: Accurately interprets provider test orders and follows approved standard operating procedures for all specimen collections.

Specimen Accessioning:

Accurately uses the HIS and LIS for patient registration and test order entry.

Specimen Processing:

o Evaluates provider test orders and collected specimens for acceptability and determines rejections according to established guidelines. o Accurately labels aliquot samples as required. o Recognizes and corrects defects before they are passed on to the next step of the process.

Computer:

Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in the use of the HIS and LIS software systems in all job-related functions.

Team Member Training:

Assists with training of team members and students.

Models compassionate, patient-centered care by ensuring comfort during specimen collection, addressing concerns with empathy, and maintaining a professional, respectful demeanor to enhance the overall patient experience. • High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Certification from an accredited phlebotomy training program preferred
• Foreign education credentials require US equivalency documentation by an AHS approved agency.
• Minimum two (2) years previous job experience as a phlebotomist preferred

ASCP, NHA, NPA

approved certification in Phlebotomy or defined equivalent preferred
