Responsibilities Perform blood draws using straight needles and butterfly needles, ensuring minimal discomfort for patients across diverse demographics Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens according to established procedures Explain specimen collection processes clearly and courteously to patients Accurately match laboratory requisitions to specimen tubes and ensure proper documentation Package specimens for transport, maintaining sample integrity and appropriate storage temperatures Record maintenance data and perform specimen decontamination and cleaning protocols Update patient information accurately in laboratory systems Follow all safety and regulatory guidelines, including OSHA and DEP regulations, and wear appropriate PPE Attend annual department training and participate in other duties as assigned Answer laboratory inquiries and communicate test results as needed Required Skills Experience performing blood draws and specimen collection Knowledge of laboratory specimen handling, labeling, centrifuging, and storing Ability to accurately read and interpret laboratory requisitions and match specimens accordingly Strong attention to detail and organization skills Excellent communication skills and ability to explain procedures clearly Additional Skills & Requirements Previous experience with specimen processing and handling urine or fecal samples is preferred Knowledge of OSHA and DEP regulations related to laboratory practices Ability to work on Saturdays from 8am to 2pm Certification or licensure in phlebotomy is preferred but not required High school diploma or equivalent required Reliable and punctual with a professional demeanor Take the next step in your healthcare career by providing critical support in specimen collection and patient care.
