Job Description
Float Phlebotomist Job Description The primary role of the Phlebotomist II is to perform various assigned duties, troubleshoot, provide training, and make workflow recommendations in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital environment. Responsibilities Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate work areas. Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods such as urine or fecal. Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Fully understand and execute all physicians' orders. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes accurately. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. Verify all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy. Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperatures. Maintain the integrity of specimens by following specific protocols. Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Essential Skills Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment. Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or
GED. 2-4
years of experience in a relevant role. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with blood draw, venipuncture, and specimen collection. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Liverpool, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
