  • Perform blood draws using straight and butterfly needles, ensuring patient comfort and specimen integrity.
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens according to established procedures.
  • Collect and store specimens properly, adhering to protocol and temperature requirements.
  • Clearly and courteously explain the specimen collection process to patients, addressing any questions or concerns.
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimens, maintain accurate labels, and ensure correct test orders.
  • Package specimens securely for transport, following protocols to maintain sample integrity.
  • Record maintenance data, decontaminate equipment, and update patient information as required.
  • Understand and fully comply with OSHA and DEP regulations related to specimen collection and handling.
  • Attend annual training sessions to stay current with laboratory procedures and safety standards.
  • Respond to inquiries by reading laboratory results and maintaining effective communication with patients and staff.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned in a clinical laboratory environment in the region. Required Skills
  • Proven experience performing venipuncture and specimen collection.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure specimen labeling and handling accuracy.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work with diverse patient populations.
  • Knowledge of laboratory procedures, specimen processing, and safety standards.
  • Ability to record data accurately and follow protocols precisely. Additional Skills & Requirements
  • Certification or licensure as a phlebotomist is preferred.
  • Prior experience working in a clinical setting, outpatient facility, or hospital environment is advantageous.
  • Availability to work the scheduled hours, including early mornings or evenings as needed.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training is a plus.
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday with a consistent schedule.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to put patients at ease during blood draws.
