$19-$23 per hour Suffolk Primary Health is seeking an experienced and dependable Bilingual Phlebotomist for our Riverhead location. Candidates must be fluent in English and Spanish . The Phlebotomist will be responsible for collecting blood and other specimens, accurately labeling and preparing samples, maintaining proper documentation, and providing patients with a professional and comfortable experience. Responsibilities Welcome patients and verify their identity before collecting specimens. Perform venipunctures and capillary blood collections safely and accurately. Collect, label, process, and prepare blood and other specimens for laboratory testing. Confirm laboratory orders and ensure specimens are matched to the correct patient. Follow proper specimen-handling, storage, and transportation requirements. Accurately document collections and patient information in the electronic health record. Monitor pending laboratory orders and assist with communicating or routing results as assigned. Communicate clearly with English- and Spanish-speaking patients. Explain collection procedures and help patients feel comfortable throughout the process. Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked phlebotomy area. Monitor laboratory supplies and notify management when inventory is low. Clean and disinfect equipment and work areas according to infection-control requirements. Follow HIPAA, OSHA, Article 28, infection-control, and laboratory safety requirements. Immediately report collection complications, patient reactions, labeling concerns, or specimen issues. Assist with clinical and administrative responsibilities when needed. Qualifications Fluency in English and Spanish is required . High school diploma or equivalent required. Phlebotomy training or certification from an accredited program. Previous phlebotomy experience in a medical office, outpatient clinic, laboratory, or similar healthcare setting. Strong venipuncture and specimen-processing skills. Knowledge of infection-control, specimen-handling, and patient-identification procedures. Basic computer proficiency and the ability to learn electronic health record and laboratory systems. Strong communication, organization, and customer-service skills. Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a busy healthcare environment. Preferred Qualifications At least one year of phlebotomy experience. Current phlebotomy certification. Experience using eClinicalWorks . Experience working in an Article 28, primary care, or multispecialty medical practice. Experience with pediatric and adult patients.
Compensation:
$19-$23 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
