- Collect blood specimens using venipuncture techniques, including straight and butterfly needle methods
- Label specimens accurately and ensure proper processing according to test requirements
- Prepare and centrifuge specimens, documenting maintenance and decontamination procedures
- Explain the specimen collection process clearly and courteously to patients, helping to reduce anxiety
- Ensure specimens are stored and transported at proper temperatures, following protocol to maintain sample integrity
- Verify test requisitions, match laboratory forms to samples, and package specimens for transport
- Follow all OSHA and environmental regulations regarding specimen collection and handling
- Attend annual training and stay informed about updated procedures and standards
- Respond to laboratory result inquiries and support the laboratory team as needed Required Skills
- Proven experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced clinical or hospital environment
- Ability to explain procedures clearly and calmly to patients
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in specimen labeling and documentation
- Familiarity with specimen processing, centrifuging, and refrigeration
- Competence in adhering to safety and OSHA regulations
- Proficiency with basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Reliable transportation to travel within assigned geographic territory Additional Skills & Requirements
- Valid phlebotomy certification for the state of employment (certification required in certain states)
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 6 months of experience in venipuncture, preferably in a clinical or hospital setting
- Ability to work Monday/Wednesday from 7am-7pm and Tuesday/Thursday/Friday from 7am-6:30pm, with every other Saturday 7am-3:30pm
- Valid driver's license with at least 4 years of licensed driving experience
- Strong patient interaction skills, both in person and over the phone
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and sit or stand for extended periods Ensure you bring excellent technical skills, a compassionate approach to patient care, and a dependable work ethic to this vital role supporting diagnostic testing and patient health.
