Must create an atmosphere of trust and confidence with patients in order to draw blood specimens in a skillful, and safe manner.
Requirements:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Collects specimens according to established procedures. Researches test/client information to confirm and verify all written and electronic orders by utilizing lab technology systems or directory of services. Responsible for completing all data entry requirements accurately. Performs departmental-related clerical duties when assigned such as data entry, inventory, stock supplies, and answers phones when needed. Performs verification of patient demographic information/initials including patient signature post venipuncture to verify tubes were labeled in their presence and that the name on the label is correct. Maintains all proper phlebotomy logs on time and based on frequency, such as maintenance logs and temperature logs. Completes training courses and keeps up-to-date with the latest phlebotomy techniques. Enhances communications by consistently displaying excellent customer service skills in behavior and attitude. Performs other position related duties as assigned. Employees shall adhere to high standards of ethical conduct and will comply with and assist in complying with all applicable laws and regulations. This will include and not be limited to following the Solaris Health Code of Conduct and all Solaris Health and Affiliated Practice policies and procedures; maintaining the confidentiality of patients' protected health information in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); immediately reporting any suspected concerns and/or violations to a supervisor and/or the Compliance Department; and the timely completion the Annual Compliance Training.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES OR REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS
License or certification as required by the State.

ABILITIES
Excellent phlebotomy skills that include pediatric and geriatric patients. Ability to provide quality, error free work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision. Complies with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality. Complies with all health and safety policies of the organization.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 1
year experience in a medical office setting.
