Medical Technician (Phlebotomist) Department of Health and Human Services Indian Health Service Clinton Service Unit Summary This position serves as a Phlebotomist with the Laborory Department loced the Clinton Indian Health Center in Clinton, OK. The primary purpose of this position is to perform all aspects of phlebotomy to obtain blood samples and assist in preparion of pient specimens for shipment. REQUIREMENTS:

Background Investigion Requirement:
This position requires the successful completion of a federal background investigion as a condition of employment.   • Medical Technician Series, GS-0645 For positions GS-04 and above, qualifying specialized experience includes: (a) technical medical laborory support work such as performing laborory tests and examinions (chemical, microbiologic, hemologic, and blood banking) and preparing reports of findings; or (b) technical support work in a closely reled field, such as biological laborory technician work, th required applicion of the methods and techniques of the position to be filled.

Experience:
Your resume must demonstre 6 months of general experience th provided familiarity with the subject mter of the position AND 6 months of specialized experience equivalent to least the GS-03 level in the Federal service. Examples of qualifying experience include performing clerical duties such as pient check-in, answering phones, faxing, and troubleshooting problem orders; verifying pient identity and properly labeling collection vials; sanitizing equipment prior to blood collection; explaining venipuncture/capillary draw procedures to pients; and drawing blood by venipuncture and/or capillary puncture.
OR Educion:
Successful completion of one of the following: An associe-degree course of study in which the second year included successful completion of a training course of approximely one year's durion in a certified laborory assistant school approved by a nionally recognized accrediting agency; OR One year of study th included least 6 semester hours in chemistry and/or biological sciences, plus successful completion of a full-time training course of approximely one year's durion in a medical or clinical laborory assistant (or technician) school th included instruction in chemistry, hemology, blood banking, and microbiology (including serology), as well as supervised laborory practice reled to the diagnostic process and trement of pients; OR Two years of study th included least 12 semester hours of chemistry and/or biological science coursework directly reled to the specializion of the position.
OR Combinion of Educion and Experience:
A combinion of qualifying educion and experience th, when combined, meets 100 percent of the GS-04 qualificion requirement. Educion used to meet the specialized experience portion must include coursework directly reled to the position. (Must provide transcripts.)
