Duties Collect blood samples through venipuncture and capillary puncture, ensuring patient comfort and safety using proper aseptic techniques. Manage biological samples with precision, including labeling, processing, and preparing specimens for laboratory analysis in accordance with CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) regulations. Maintain accurate data entry within Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), ensuring all specimen information is correctly documented and accessible. Adhere strictly to laboratory procedures, safety protocols, and clinical confidentiality policies while handling specimens and patient information. Support laboratory management by organizing specimen storage, managing biological sample inventory, and assisting with routine laboratory tasks. Communicate effectively with patients, explaining procedures clearly while maintaining professionalism and empathy. Assist with specialized procedures such as spinal taps or catheterizations when trained and authorized, under supervision of medical staff. Uphold high standards of laboratory techniques, including aseptic technique during specimen collection to prevent contamination or infection. Maintain a clean, organized work environment that complies with hospital health standards and safety regulations. Experience Previous experience in a medical laboratory setting or research laboratory environment is highly desirable. Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy techniques such as venipuncture and skin puncture across diverse patient populations including pediatrics and adults. Familiarity with laboratory management systems (LIS) for data entry and specimen tracking. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and clinical laboratory procedures to support accurate specimen collection and processing. Experience working within hospital settings or clinical environments that adhere to CLIA regulations is preferred. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) or equivalent policies.
