Our multidisciplinary team provides individualized care with a strong focus on gastrointestinal health, women's health, musculoskeletal medicine, acupuncture, and regenerative/orthopedic procedures. Position Overview Open Wellness is seeking a dependable, highly organized Medical Assistant / Phlebotomist to join our team full-time. This is a varied, hands-on position combining phlebotomy and laboratory responsibilities, medical assisting, regenerative procedure support, clinical administrative work, and front desk coverage. We are looking for someone who enjoys having a diverse role and is comfortable shifting between clinical and administrative responsibilities based on the needs of the clinic. The ideal candidate is confident with venipuncture, highly organized, comfortable communicating with patients, and willing to jump in wherever support is needed. A portion of this role will work directly with Dr. David Chang, assisting with orthopedic and regenerative procedures including PRP, prolotherapy, perineural injection therapy (PIT), and other injection-based treatments. Key Responsibilities Perform phlebotomy, including venipuncture, specimen labeling, processing, centrifuging, and preparation for lab send-outs Manage lab orders, supplies, equipment, inventory, and laboratory workflows/SOPs Assist Dr. Chang with orthopedic and regenerative procedures, including PRP, prolotherapy, PIT, and other injection-based treatments Prepare procedure rooms, sterile fields, equipment, and supplies and provide chairside assistance Process clinical tasks including prescriptions, imaging orders, referrals, and prior authorizations Communicate with patients by phone, text, email, and patient portal and appropriately route clinical messages Provide administrative support to the clinic team, including front desk coverage as needed Assist with patient check-in/check-out, scheduling, answering phones, collecting payments, and other front desk responsibilities Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR Keep clinical and laboratory areas clean, organized, stocked, and ready for patient care
Qualifications Required:
Medical Assistant training/certification or equivalent relevant clinical experience Strong phlebotomy and venipuncture skills Experience with specimen processing and laboratory workflows Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Comfortable using electronic medical records and learning new software Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong customer service and patient communication skills Ability to manage multiple tasks and shift between clinical and administrative responsibilities Dependable, professional, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team Willingness to provide front desk and administrative coverage as needed Strong commitment to patient privacy and confidentiality
Preferred:
CMA, RMA, phlebotomy certification, or equivalent credential Previous outpatient medical office experience Previous medical front desk or scheduling experience Experience assisting with injections, minor procedures, or sterile procedures Experience with PRP, regenerative medicine, sports medicine, orthopedics, or procedural medicine Experience processing prior authorizations, imaging orders, prescriptions, and referrals Familiarity with integrative, functional, or naturopathic medicine Regenerative medicine experience is not required. We are willing to train the right candidate who has strong foundational clinical and phlebotomy skills.
