Full Job Description SUMMARY:
The Laboratory Phlebotomist/Medical Assistant is a supportive position to Primary Care Associates of Erie providing administrative and supportive services to the Providers, staff, and patients.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Phlebotomy Ensure all lab work has an order in the patient's chart or a written order that can be scanned into the patient's chart. Draw bloodwork according to policy. Process and enter requisitions for all lab work. Mark tests on the encounter form with the diagnosis code. Call patients regarding missed appointments for bloodwork and schedule a new appointment in the computer. Clean and stock the drawing room. Monitor drawing supplies and order as necessary. Medical Assistant Call patients from waiting room and verify patient information before escorting to the exam room. Conduct vitals, check urine specimen if needed. Log information into computer. Room set up according to Provider preference. Clean exam rooms. Assist Physicians with procedures. Provide patient samples and answer any questions if asked or direct questions back to Physician/Provider. Assist with laundry on a daily basis. Ensure rooms are OSHA clean and up to standards every month Stock rooms on a daily basis. Scrub instruments/autoclave cleaning on a daily basis per scheduled assignment. Clean Rx cabinets to check for outdated samples. Put away clinical supplies received. Keep track of inventory to advise clinical supervisor when items need reordered. Consistently demonstrates internal and external quality customer service standards to all that request assistance, responding in a professional manner. Other duties as assigned.COMPETENCIES
Knowledge of phlebotomy services Strong organization and interpersonal skills Ability to determine appropriate course of action in more complex situations Ability to work independently, exercise creativity, be attentive to detail, and maintain a positive attitude. Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling of work Ability to maintain confidentiality of all medical, financial, and legal information. Ability to complete work assignments accurately and in a timely manner Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Ability to handle difficult situations involving patients, physicians, or others in a professional manner Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Physicians, Supervisors and peers Basic typing and keyboarding skills Demonstrates flexibility by adapting to new and changing situations and duties in order to accommodate patient needs effectively Works independently Exercise judgment and makes decisions Ability to prioritize responsibilities Requires adherence to all policies and procedures, including standards for safety, attendance, punctuality and personal appearanceSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
