Job Description
Job Summary HCA Solutions is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Phlebotomist to work at the FCI McKean located at 6975 Route 59, Lewis Run, PA 16738. This is a full-term, long-term position that offers health benefits, vacation, sick time, holiday pay, and more. This position will work Monday - Friday 6:00 am to 2:00 pm. Duties Assist the Physician, Physician Assistant, and/or Nurse with patient flow in a clinic setting by measuring the patient's vital signs and weight and scanning laboratory results in the Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR). Organize, schedule, and perform laboratory studies, specimen collection and process within the Health Service Unit, to include A&O in-processing, DNA per procedure, vaccine programs and PPD updates. Prepare and ensure specimens are packed and transported according to the contract or BOP Reference Lab and document per Health Services Unit Laboratory Procedures. Ensure that lab requests are completed properly and all reports are returned from the contract lab, provider notified, log results in as received, follow up appropriately, and file results in lab and medical record. Acquire and maintain knowledge of the Health Services Manual and Unit Procedures necessary to accomplish the mission described herein, ensuring that the Laboratory Procedure Manual is updated accordingly. Assist the Health Service Administrator (HSA) or his/her designee in the coordination of BOP and Contract Reference Lab contact, CLIA re-certification, maintenance of equipment and notification of needed supplies. Assist the HSA and Clinical Director with writing and implementing policies that deal with the laboratory program. Qualifications Must have valid certification to practice in the state of Pennsylvania as a Phlebotomist Must be CPR/AED certified 1 year documented experience as a phlebotomist
