Full Job Description Overview Title:
Medical Care Coordinator with Phlebotomy skills for
Primary Care Practice Location:
Flatiron, Downtown Manhattan Pay Range:
$22-$30/hr based on qualifications, skills and experience. Paid Holidays, Paid Vacation, Health Insurance, HSA, 401K Work hours: 9am-5pm Monday through Friday, 100% in person, with no option for any remote work.
Position Summary:
Perform a very high level of customer service and excellent medical care in a primary care practice. 75% Care coordination, 25% patient care. Venipuncture/phlebotomy skills required and EKG skills a plus. Must be a dependable, detail oriented, proactive team player who is able to multitask.
Job Responsibilities:
Reviews medical charts and helps physician to document new patient questionnaires and medical records in EMR. Performs standard diagnostic procedures including EKG, phlebotomy, venipuncture, ear irrigation, basic vision screening, fall risk assessment. Performs POCT testing and prepares specimens for lab courier. Assists physician with patient education, care coordination, referrals, prior authorizations, rx refills, administrative work such as phones/faxes. Communicates with patients in a clear and courteous manner, both verbally and in writing. Provides excellent customer service and tries to say "yes" to patient requests when reasonable. Assists with answering patient messages and questions by email, phone, portal. Coverage of front desk tasks such as collecting payments, updating demographics, insurance information and checking patients in. Assists patient in scheduling in-person and telehealth appointments. Documents nursing notes in EMR. Performs patient outreach to help with keeping patients up to date on healthcare maintenance items. Plans and manages patient care according to each patient's needs. Interviews patients and records their chief complaint, medications, allergies, smoking history, pain level, preferred pharmacy Obtains patient vital signs, including pulse, blood pressure, temperature, and also weight/height. Functions as a scribe for physician for documenting notes in EMR when needed. Provides wound care when indicated. Prepares injections Accompanies patients to their rooms and turns over/cleans rooms after each use. Assists with keeping office clean and presentable. Proactively finds ways to make the practice operations smoother and more efficient.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Venipuncture/Phlebotomy skills required EKG skills a plus Excellent English verbal and written communication skills required Must be meticulous, detail oriented, and organized Knowledge of infection control practices A basic understanding of computers and basic MS Office knowledge Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules Collaborative, Team player Able to provide a high level of customer service Clean and professional appearance Ability to multitask and be flexible in role
Education and Experience Requirements:
1+ years of experience as a medical care coordinator or MA required Minimum education requirement: Bachelor's degree Medical Assistant certificate a plus EMR experience required, EPIC experience a plus Experience in primary care medicine a plus BLS certification Infection Control certification and HIPAA training
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
Stamina, physical endurance, and ability to assist disabled patients Standing for long periods of time Must have the ability to lift a 20lb box and push a patient in a wheelchair when necessary
Pay:
$22.00 - $30.00 per hour Expected hours: 37.5 per week
