Job Description

Physical Therapist (PT) Part time ~10hrs per week The Physical Therapist (PT) is responsible for providing pre-habilitation, injury prevention, and rehabilitation services to fighter aircrew as part of the Optimizing Human Weapon System (OHWS) program. The PT will focus on enhancing neck and back strength, reducing injury rates, and improving overall physical readiness and quality of life for aircrew personnel. Key Responsibilities Initial Evaluation & Assessment Conduct comprehensive pre-habilitation evaluations for all assigned fighter aircrew. Design and document individualized training programs (IP) within 90 days of contract start. Maintain and update records for each aircrew member. Program Development & Implementation Develop individualized strength and conditioning programs targeting neck and back health. Guide and monitor ongoing implementation of these programs, adjusting as needed. Encourage regular participation and track progress. Injury Prevention & Rehabilitation Provide education on injury prevention and healthy lifestyle practices. Assist in injury recovery through modified programs and coordination with medical providers. Refer personnel with new duty-limiting conditions to the servicing Medical Treatment Facility (MTF). Reporting & Metrics Collect, analyze, and report on human performance and prehabilitative metrics (e.g., pain trends, lost duty time, strength measures). Prepare and submit required reports (monthly, quarterly, and as requested) to leadership and medical staff. Advisory & Administrative Support Advise unit commanders on injury prevention, rehabilitation, and program improvements. Develop protocols, SOPs, and recommendations for fitness and injury prevention programs. Conduct equipment and literature reviews to ensure program effectiveness. Collaboration & Communication Work closely with strength and conditioning coaches, athletic trainers, and MTF medical teams. Communicate findings and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders. Compliance & Safety Ensure safe and effective operation of all equipment. Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to all relevant regulations and standards. Required Qualifications Current, unrestricted license as a Physical Therapist in the state of service. Doctor of Science in Physical Therapy (DScPT) from an APTA-accredited institution, or Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) as an acceptable equivalent. Certification as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) or Sports Certified Specialist (SCS) through ABPTS, or as a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) through NATA. Minimum of four (4) years' experience with professional/collegiate athletes or equivalent. Minimum of five (5) years' experience in an orthopedic outpatient or sports medicine clinic (desired). Experience with combat-related injuries (strongly preferred). Current certification in basic CPR and AED. Required Skills and Abilities Strong oral and written communication skills for interaction with peers, leadership, and stakeholders. Effective team dynamics and collaboration skills. Knowledge of local, state, federal laws, Air Force and DoD guidance, and professional ethics. Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting using computers and software applications. Ability to design and present outcome analysis and educational briefings. Skill in quality and risk management to improve practice and ensure compliance. Work Schedule & Location Approximately 10 hours per week will be scheduled between the hours of 0800-1700 (with adjustments for aircrew schedules as needed). Times and days are flexible with approval. On-site at JBPHH. Telework is not authorized. Additional Requirements Must complete all required annual training and maintain licensure/certification. Must comply with all installation security, safety, and privacy regulations.
