Job Description

SUMMARY This position is an accelerated 12-month program focused to develop the skills of a physical therapist for the practice of acute care therapy. The staff member will be required to complete didactic course work to enhance knowledge of the setting. As a licensed therapist, he/she will plan and administer medically prescribed physical therapy treatment for patients admitted to the hospital who are suffering from injuries of the musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, integumentary, cardiovascular, and/or pulmonary systems to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Resident Specific:
Abide by all standards set forth by American Board of Physical Therapy Residency Fellowship Education. Complete required hours of didactic course work while staying engaged and challenged. Participate in required hours of mentoring to assess quality of patient care Complete all data logs required by resident director for program tracking. Meet with Residency Program Director to discuss monthly goals and program development. Be able to engage in self-reflection to improve performance with clinical and didactic work.
Clinician:
Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Will work weekend days each schedule as required by staffing manager and at least one major and one minor holiday during the year. Maintain superior clinical care quality and patient and physician satisfaction. Achieve patient care time targets, with a general target of 70%+ minimum (calculated using clinical hours only) in the inpatient setting after productivity modifier is applied. Exhibit positive attitude and behaviors facilitating team work, efficiency, and care quality and promoting a favorable unit and company image. Maintain excellent individual compliance and reimbursement standards including development and delivery of an appropriate care plan, efficient, relevant, optimal, and complete documentation, meeting chart sign off requirements, capturing of patient time for billing, and performing chart reviews and other quality assurance activities for other clinicians as directed. Deliver care as broadly specified within applicable state practice act.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinically supervise assigned staff including physical therapy assistants and aides/techs. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
