JOB SUMMARY
The Pediatric Physical Therapist is responsible for evaluating, planning, and implementing individualized physical therapy programs for infants, children, and adolescents with a variety of developmental, neuromuscular, and orthopedic conditions. This role emphasizes family-centered care and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to promote optimal physical function and independence of children.
QUALIFICATIONS
Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an accredited program Experience with pediatric population in a clinical or outpatient setting preferred Current Physical Therapist License Current BLS Certification Ability to assess and respond to the needs of patients and families in varied settings; ability to cope with family emotional stress, and tolerance of individual lifestyles Strong written/verbal communication, organizational, and customer service skills is a must Good physical stamina, mental health, and personal hygiene habits Strong attention to detail Good oral, written and organizational skills; computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office software Understands the healthcare philosophy of car and has empathy for the ill, along with their loved ones Proven experience and ability to work in a team-based environment Ability to read, follow directions, work independently, and operate mobile documentation device Exceptional organizational skills, effective time management, ability to multi-task while still paying close attention to detail Ability to take initiative and to see projects through to completion Ability to work collaboratively and compassionately with other staff in a fast growing, fast-paced, and changing work environment Team player who shares and participates in the vision and goals of ASLH Ability to maintain confidentiality
JOB RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to the Director of Ancillary Services; Assists with supervision of students in patient treatment areas as necessary
DUTIES/JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform comprehensive physical therapy evaluations on pediatric patients with a variety of diagnoses including developmental delays, neuromuscular disorders, orthopedic conditions, and genetic disorders Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and therapy goals in collaboration with patients, caregivers, and referring providers Deliver evidence-based physical therapy interventions to promote motor development, strength, balance, coordination, posture, and functional mobility Educate and counsel parents/caregivers regarding home exercise programs, mobility techniques, and equipment use Document all evaluations, treatments, and patient progress in accordance with state, federal, and facility standards Communicate and coordinate care with interdisciplinary team members, including occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, pediatricians, nurses, and educators Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and family consultations as needed Maintain up-to-date knowledge of pediatric therapy best practices, regulations, and equipment Assist with training or mentoring students or new hires as appropriate Comply with all HIPAA, infection control, and safety procedures The above statements are intended to be a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job.
