Job Description

Physical Therapist I Pay:
$37.00+ per hour, based on experience
Sign-On Bonus:
$20,000 with a 2-year commitment
Schedule:
Primarily outpatient; occasional acute-care coverage
Weekend Requirement:
Approximately 1 weekend per month

Discussed during interview Position Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapist I to join our rehabilitation team. This position primarily provides outpatient physical therapy services, with occasional floating to acute-care settings. The Physical Therapist evaluates patients, develops individualized treatment plans, provides therapeutic interventions, and monitors patient progress in accordance with professional standards, physician orders, and organizational policies. The Physical Therapist also provides direction and supervision to Physical Therapist Assistants, Physical Therapy Aides, students, and other appropriate support personnel. Essential Responsibilities Evaluate patients through formal and informal testing to determine skeletal, neurological, respiratory, and cardiovascular status. Develop individualized, goal-oriented treatment plans based on assessment findings, patient needs, and tolerance. Establish appropriate treatment frequency and duration in coordination with the patient, family/caregiver, and clinical support staff. Prepare and maintain treatment plans in coordination with the referring physician. Update plans of care as patient conditions change. Provide appropriate supervision and direction to Physical Therapist Assistants and other support personnel. Educate patients, families, and caregivers regarding diagnoses, treatment options, prognosis, and home-management strategies. Provide therapeutic interventions designed to restore or improve optimal physical functioning. Recommend adaptive and supportive equipment based on patient assessments and assist with obtaining necessary equipment. Document patient responses to treatment and changes in condition in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements. Complete daily documentation required for billing and compliance. Develop and teach individualized home exercise and education programs. Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members. Participate in team conferences and interdisciplinary meetings as appropriate. Support staff development, student education, and professional training. Participate in quality improvement and program development initiatives. Promote physical therapy services through appropriate community education and outreach. Function as case manager for assigned patients when applicable. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy or related required educational pathway. Current Physical Therapist (PT) license required. Ability to successfully complete organizational orientation and new-hire competency requirements. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and demonstrate sound judgment, problem-solving, organization, and time-management skills. Ability to effectively educate and communicate with patients, families, caregivers, and members of the healthcare team. Preferred Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; must be obtained within one month of hire or transfer. Knowledge & Skills The successful candidate will demonstrate: Strong clinical assessment and treatment-planning skills. Ability to provide safe and effective physical therapy interventions. Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team. Professional judgment, initiative, and accountability. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality patient care. Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and common computer-based documentation systems. Commitment to patient safety, service excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Physical & Environmental Requirements This position requires the ability to perform essential physical therapy functions with or without reasonable accommodation, including: Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and changes in posture. Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, grasping, and other repetitive movements. Ability to move throughout the facility independently or with an appropriate assistive device. Ability to occasionally lift or carry 21-50 pounds and frequently handle approximately 20 pounds or less. Ability to stand, walk, push, and pull as required by patient-care activities. Adequate vision, hearing, dexterity, and coordination to safely perform job duties. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens, infectious materials, communicable diseases, and other healthcare-related hazards. Ability to work effectively in stressful situations, including those involving trauma, grief, or death. Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance. Compliance & Safety Employees are expected to comply with applicable occupational safety, infection-control, confidentiality, and patient-safety requirements. Required safety training, including OSHA-related training, must be completed as applicable. Compensation & Benefits Starting pay: $37.00+ per hour, with compensation increasing based on experience and qualifications. $20,000 sign-on bonus in exchange for a 2-year commitment.
