Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic veterinary team as an Animal Physical Therapist, where you will play a vital role in enhancing the mobility, comfort, and overall well-being of our animal patients. This rewarding position involves developing personalized treatment plans, implementing innovative therapy techniques, and collaborating closely with veterinary professionals and pet owners. Your expertise will help animals recover from injuries, manage chronic conditions, and improve their quality of life through targeted physiotherapy interventions. Responsibilities Assess animal patients' physical conditions through comprehensive evaluations, including physiology and anatomy knowledge. Develop and implement customized treatment plans focusing on rehabilitation, pain management, and mobility improvement. Perform various physiotherapy techniques such as trigger point therapy, therapeutic exercises, and manual therapy to promote healing. Monitor patient progress regularly and adjust care plans accordingly to ensure optimal recovery outcomes. Document all clinical activities accurately following medical terminology standards and clinical documentation protocols. Collaborate with veterinarians, specialists in orthopedics, neurology, geriatrics, pediatrics, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care. Educate pet owners on home care routines, discharge planning, and community-based therapies to support ongoing rehabilitation outside the clinic setting. Requirements Proven experience practicing in a physical therapy role within veterinary or animal health settings; outpatient clinic or inpatient hospital experience preferred. Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, orthopedics, neurology, and geriatrics as they relate to animal health. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) or electronic medical records (EMR) systems for accurate documentation. Experience with outpatient rehabilitation centers or home & community care environments is highly desirable. Ability to communicate effectively with clients about treatment plans, progress updates, and home care instructions. Knowledge of discharge planning processes for animals recovering from surgery or injury. Working knowledge of medical terminology relevant to veterinary physiotherapy and acute care standards.
