Early Intervention Physical TherapistJOB DEFINITION
To facilitate optimum fine and gross motor development, gross motor perceptual development and sensory-motor integration of individual students in order to increase and/or maintain his ability to perform functional activities of daily living and playing (i.e.: ambulation, transfers, self-care, physical education activities) as is required to assist the child to benefit from special education.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties of this position include, but are not limited to: 1. Provide assessment and reassessment of fine and gross motor development, gross motor perceptual development and sensory-motor integration to determine if student is a physical therapy candidate. 2. Provide appropriate individualized physical therapy programs to meet the needs of those students who are assessed as physical therapy candidates. 3. Serves as A team member, providing integrated therapy whenever possible. 4. Assist and guide parents/guardians to carry-over, as much as possible, physical therapy programs into the home environment. 5. Serve as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program to increase and maintain functional activities of daily living and playing. 6. Keep thorough on-going records for students receiving physical therapy. 7. Assist and guide teachers in adapting physical education program for students. 8. Provide consulting advice on physical therapy equipment and assume primary responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining equipment. 9. Provide teachers with in-service education regarding proper body mechanics for lifting and transferring students and regarding other topics that may better enable teachers to integrate physical therapy programs in the classroom. 10. Assist in proper referral of students to agencies and specialists in the community. 11. When appropriate, services as a member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team; attends IEP conferences and develop IEP's in areas of which responsible. 12. Seek out and maintain all training and education to adhere to requirements of the position and to provide current practices in the field. 13. To consult with the student's physician(s) as to the prescriptive nature of the physical therapy being prescribed for implementation by the school. Prescription by physician(s) required before physical therapy evaluation and/or treatment can be executed.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED
1. Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution. 2. A valid license to practice Physical Therapy in the State of Pennsylvania.ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
1. Current, approved Act 34 (PA State Police), Act 151 (PA Child Abuse Registry) and Act 114-FBI Fingerprint clearances are required and must be renewed at appropriate, specific intervals pursuant to Act 153 of 2014 (revised Act 15 of 2015). 2. Current, approved Act 126 Mandated Reporter Training certificate showing completion of a minimum of three (3) hours of training every five (5) years.PROGRAM/CLASSIFICATION

1. This is a full-time position based on 200 day stretch calendar. This position includes sick and personal time off. Adjustments to the work schedule may occasionally be required to meet program or organizational needs. Attendance at work is a requirement of this position; any and all absences must be approved by the immediate supervisor. 2. Must have transportation to work locations.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
