Position Summary Desert Star Therapy is seeking a passionate and licensed contract Physical Therapist (PT) to provide school-based services to students in Pre-K through 12th grade at a public elementary school in Brownsville, Texas. This is an excellent opportunity for a PT who enjoys working with young learners and collaborating with educators and families to help students develop the communication skills they need for academic and lifelong success. Responsibilities Evaluate school-aged students to identify gross motor, functional mobility, balance, strength, coordination, positioning, and other physical needs that may impact educational participation. Participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings and contribute professional recommendations regarding students' physical and functional needs. Develop, implement, and monitor physical therapy goals and objectives as part of the student's IEP. Provide direct and/or consultative physical therapy services in accordance with the IEP. Collaborate with teachers, special education personnel, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, school nurses, administrators, families, and other professionals to support student needs. Recommend and assist with appropriate positioning, mobility, adaptive equipment, and physical accommodations to promote student safety and independence. Monitor student progress and adjust treatment strategies and recommendations based on functional performance and educational needs. Complete progress reports, documentation, and other required records in a timely manner. Educate and consult with school staff and caregivers regarding positioning, mobility, transfers, exercises, and strategies to support student participation. Assist in determining the need for physical therapy as a related service and make recommendations regarding service frequency, duration, and delivery model. Ensure physical therapy services are provided in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, district policies, and professional standards. Promote safe access to classrooms, playgrounds, transportation, extracurricular activities, and other school environments. Qualifications Current Texas license as a Physical Therapist. Experience in a school or pediatric setting is preferred. Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills. Passion for helping elementary-aged students reach their communication goals.
