Under the direction of the Chief Clinical Officer, the Physical Therapist at Salt Lake Specialty Hospital evaluates and treats patients upon the order or referral of a physician or other authorized provider, in accordance with the Utah Physical Therapy Practice Act (Utah Code Title 58, Chapter 24b), Utah Division of Professional Licensing (DOPL) rules, Utah Administrative Code Title R432 (Health Care Facility Licensing), CMS Conditions of Participation, The Joint Commission standards, and all other applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This position provides direct patient care to adult and geriatric populations, designing and implementing individualized Plans of Care that use a variety of therapeutic procedures to restore strength, coordination, balance, and mobility, reduce pain, and improve function. The Physical Therapist supervises Physical Therapist Assistants, Rehab Aides, and support staff to ensure quality care and productivity, and contributes to program development, quality improvement initiatives, and the creation and revision of departmental policies and procedures. Must be able to perform in all patient care and operational areas, with or without reasonable accommodation, and use all mandatory safety devices, procedures, and required Personal Protective Equipment. Must also participate in the Respiratory Protection Program, which may include wearing a respirator. This is a non-union position.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Graduate of a Physical Therapy program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE); Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or an entry-level degree recognized at the time of licensure Affiliation with the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) encouraged
Experience:
One (1) year of acute care or inpatient experience preferred
Licenses/Certificates:
Current and valid Utah Physical Therapist license issued by the Division of Professional Licensing (DOPL), or a valid PT Compact privilege to practice in Utah Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)

Strong clinical, organizational, and communication skill 1. Reviews patient information and evaluates its impact on the assessment and treatment process. 2. Conducts and documents a complete functional assessment of the patient in accordance with established guidelines and protocols. 3. Designs and implements an individualized Plan of Care, appropriate to the age and needs of the patient, containing functional and measurable goals with input from the patient and family. 4. Orients patients to treatment procedures appropriate to their age and needs, and informs patients of any potential risks. 10. Establishes and instructs patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise and discharge programs, including equipment recommendations. 11. Participates in interdisciplinary care planning, patient care conferences, and the continuum of care process when a patient requires further rehabilitation following discharge. 12. Contributes to program development and to the creation and revision of departmental policies and procedures. 13. Provides clinical supervision to Physical Therapy and Physical Therapist Assistant students as requested. 14. Completes all annual mandatory training, competency validation, and certification requirements, and maintains current licensure and certifications without lapse. 15. Pursues continuing education appropriate to the discipline and responsibilities, including continuing education required for license renewal in Utah. 16. Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), infection prevention, and patient safety activities; works safely, uses supplies and equipment cost-effectively, and promptly reports hazards and on-the-job injuries. 17. Participates actively in the orientation and on-the-job training of assigned personnel. 18. Adheres to all Salt Lake Specialty Hospital policies and procedures, including the Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, safety rules, The Joint Commission standards, Utah Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) facility licensing rules, CMS Conditions of Participation, HIPAA, and the requirements of any other regulatory agency. 19.
