Job Description
Caribou Medical Center is now Hiring a Physical Therapy Aide / Rehabilitation Assistant (PRN) The PRN (as needed) Physical Therapy Aide supports the delivery of patient care services under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. This position assists with patient preparation, treatment area setup, equipment operation and maintenance, and administrative support functions. The Physical Therapy Aide helps ensure a safe, clean, and efficient therapy environment while providing excellent customer service to patients and their families. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Patient Care and Department Support Assist in preparing patients for therapy treatments under the direction of a Physical Therapist. Prepare, organize, and sanitize treatment rooms before and after patient use. Maintain therapy equipment and ensure proper operation and cleanliness. Support patient mobility, transfers, ambulation training, and treatment activities as directed. Assist with maintaining accurate patient records and documentation. Participate as an active member of the Rehabilitation Department. Attend departmental meetings and trainings as required. Assist with the development and implementation of new programs and services. Support community outreach and public education initiatives when requested. Administrative Responsibilities Greet patients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner. Schedule appointments and assist with patient registration and check-in procedures. Answer incoming telephone calls and direct inquiries appropriately. Provide clerical support to therapists and office staff as needed. Safety and Infection Prevention Follow all hospital and department safety policies and procedures. Adhere to Standard Precautions, including proper hand hygiene and use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Clean and disinfect whirlpools, treatment equipment, and other patient-contact surfaces. Report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns promptly. Utilize proper body mechanics and approved assistive devices during patient handling, transfers, and mobility assistance. Teamwork and Professionalism Foster a positive, respectful, and collaborative work environment. Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, coworkers, and supervisors. Demonstrate sound judgment and problem-solving skills by following established communication channels. Accept feedback constructively and actively pursue opportunities for professional growth and improvement. Additional Responsibilities Perform other duties as assigned. The role requires frequent walking, standing, bending, lifting, and movement between patient care areas. Appropriate safety training and personal protective equipment are provided. Required High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented healthcare environment. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling patient information. Preferred Previous healthcare, rehabilitation, or customer service experience. Basic knowledge of physical therapy or rehabilitation services.
