Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Physical Therapy Aide to support our rehabilitation team in delivering exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in physiotherapy practices, demonstrate excellent communication skills, and have experience working within hospital or clinical settings. This role offers an opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in a dynamic healthcare environment while assisting licensed physical therapists in providing effective rehabilitation services. Responsibilities Assist licensed physical therapists with patient intake procedures, including preparing treatment areas and gathering necessary documentation. Support patients during therapy sessions by applying proper manual handling techniques and ensuring safe patient transfer methods. Maintain accurate records of patient progress, treatment details, and session notes while respecting patient confidentiality at all times. Prepare and organize therapeutic equipment, supplies, and treatment spaces to ensure smooth clinical operations. Provide assistance with rehabilitation exercises, ensuring correct technique under supervision and encouraging patient engagement. Monitor patient responses during therapy sessions, reporting any concerns or adverse reactions to the supervising therapist promptly. Uphold infection control protocols and safety standards in accordance with hospital or clinic policies, including CPR certification when required. Collaborate effectively with the healthcare team to facilitate comprehensive inpatient, outpatient, or post-acute care services across diverse patient populations such as geriatrics or those in sub-acute care settings. Skills Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and rehabilitation principles relevant to physiotherapy. Proven experience in patient service delivery within hospital or clinical environments, emphasizing compassionate care and effective communication. Knowledge of patient transfer methods, manual handling techniques, and physiotherapy equipment management. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and assist with mobility exercises for patients with varying needs. Familiarity with inpatient care procedures, acute care protocols, and post-acute rehabilitation practices. Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail. CPR certification and basic life support training are highly desirable; prior hospital or clinic experience is preferred for optimal performance.
