About This Position:
Gulf Coast Medical Center stands as our largest campus and is designated both a Level II Trauma Center and a Comprehensive Stroke Center. With 699 beds, Gulf Coast Medical Center delivers advanced, specialized care across Critical Care, Oncology, Orthopedic, Colorectal, Vascular, and General Surgery service lines. Deeply involved in each step of the patient journey, our Acute Care Therapy Services team plays a key role in delivering programs like Animal-Assisted Therapy, the Early Activity Initiative, Why Not Home, and our In-House Rehabilitation Programs, all designed to achieve exceptional outcomes. The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides physical therapy services under the direction and supervision of the Physical Therapist (PT). PTAs implement selected components of patient/client interventions and obtain data related to that intervention; make modifications in selected interventions either to progress the patient/client as directed by the Physical Therapist or to ensure patient/client safety and comfort; educate and interact with Physical Therapist and Physical Therapist Assistant students, technicians, volunteers, patients/clients families, caregivers; and respond to patient/client and environmental emergency situations. The PTA is expected to conduct themselves in an effective professional behavior manner. Our Rehabilitation Services team is one of the largest and most dynamic in the region. With over 700 skilled professionals dedicated to helping patients regain strength, mobility, and independence through comprehensive, compassionate care. Our licensed physical, occupational, and speech therapists work closely with medical teams to create individualized treatment plans tailored to each patients unique needs. Beyond core therapy services, we offer a variety of specialty programs including neurological rehabilitation, vestibular and balance therapy, lymphedema management, pelvic health therapy, and oncology rehabilitation. With services spanning acute care, skilled nursing, home health, and outpatient settings, our team delivers exceptional, evidence-based care that restores function and enhances quality of life.

Educational Requirements:
Associates Physical Therapist Assistant ;Eligible Lee Health candidates are required to graduate from an accredited program. The accepted accrediting body required for Lee Health's Rehabilitation Professionals is the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).

As part of a collaborative acute care team, youll work alongside physicians, nurses, and other rehabilitation professionals to provide evidence-based care that supports safe discharge planning and improved patient outcomes. How many patients will I see each day? Patient caseloads vary based on unit assignment, patient complexity, and individual treatment needs. Our focus is on providing safe, high-quality care while allowing clinicians the time needed to complete thorough evaluations, develop individualized treatment plans, and support meaningful functional outcomes. What patient populations will I work with? Youll work with adult patients across a diverse acute care population, including neurological conditions, stroke, cardiovascular conditions, respiratory diagnoses, oncology, orthopedic conditions, post-surgical recovery, and other complex medical conditions.
