Responsibilities Implement prescribed physical therapy treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs, focusing on mobility enhancement, pain management, and functional independence. Assist with clinical assessments and document patient progress accurately in accordance with clinical documentation standards and medical documentation protocols. Operate and maintain medical equipment safely and effectively during therapy sessions, ensuring compliance with safety guidelines. Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals such as physical therapists, physicians, nurses, and caregivers to coordinate care plans and discharge strategies. Conduct manual therapy techniques including trigger point therapy to alleviate muscle tension and improve tissue flexibility. Maintain detailed records of patient care activities within electronic health records (EHR) systems, ensuring timely updates on treatment progress and clinical assessment documentation. Communicate clearly with clients and their families to explain treatment procedures, progress updates, and discharge planning processes in a compassionate manner. Requirements Valid certification or license as a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) from an accredited program. Proven experience working in skilled nursing facilities, inpatient settings, outpatient clinics, or home health environments with geriatric or pediatric populations preferred. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, orthopedics, and medical terminology relevant to physiotherapy practices. Hands-on experience with physical therapy treatment implementation including manual therapy techniques such as trigger point therapy and orthopedics-focused interventions. Familiarity with clinical assessment documentation standards and medical documentation practices aligned with healthcare regulations. Ability to operate medical equipment safely while adhering to safety protocols. Excellent communication skills for effective caregiver and client interaction across diverse populations. Experience managing electronic health records (EHR) systems efficiently for documentation purposes. Knowledge of discharge planning processes for patients transitioning from acute care or skilled nursing environments.
