TIBS for Kids is currently looking for a Physical Therapy Assistant in Fredericksburg, VA. Overview A Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to provide care and treatment for patients recovering from injuries, surgeries, or chronic conditions. The PTA assists in executing treatment plans designed to improve mobility, reduce pain, and enhance the overall quality of life for patients. Responsibilities Assist in carrying out physical therapy treatment plans as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist. Guide patients through therapeutic exercises, stretches, and mobility techniques. Use specialized equipment to aid in patient recovery and rehabilitation. Monitor and document patient progress during therapy sessions. Communicate with patients to ensure their comfort and understanding of therapy goals. Educate patients and their families about at-home exercises and techniques for continued recovery. Prepare therapy rooms and equipment for patient use. Maintain a clean and safe therapy environment. Report any significant changes in a patient's condition to the supervising Physical Therapist. Record accurate notes on treatment provided and patient progress. Adhere to healthcare regulations, privacy standards (e.g., HIPAA), and safety protocols. Skills and Qualifications Associate degree in Physical Therapist Assistant Program (accredited). Licensure or certification as required by the state of employment. Familiarity with therapy equipment and techniques. Strong communication, empathy, and patience in dealing with patients of various conditions and ages. Ability to lift and support patients and remain active throughout the workday.
