The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides skilled physical therapy services under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to help patients improve mobility, strength, balance, function, and independence. Working in a critical access hospital, the PTA may provide care across a diverse patient population and in multiple settings, including inpatient, outpatient, emergency, swing-bed, and rehabilitation services. The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) performs treatments and therapeutic interventions according to established plans of care, monitors patient response and progress, and communicates changes or concerns to the Physical Therapist and interdisciplinary care team. The role requires flexibility, sound clinical judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a rural hospital environment where patient needs and daily responsibilities may vary.
