PPEC experience preferred, not required Pediatric Haven PPEC is seeking an energetic, compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our interdisciplinary therapy team. Our PPEC serves children with autism, developmental delays, and medically complex needs in a structured, appointment-based clinical setting. Position Overview:
The PTA will work under the supervision and direction of a licensed Physical Therapist to provide high‑quality therapeutic interventions to infants, toddlers, and children enrolled in our PPEC program.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement physical therapy treatment plans as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist Provide direct therapeutic interventions to improve mobility, strength, balance, coordination, and functional independence Assist with gait training, positioning, transfers, and mobility equipment use Document daily treatment notes, progress, and observations in accordance with state and facility standards Monitor patient response to treatment and communicate changes to the supervising PT Support PT during evaluations by preparing materials, assisting with handling, and gathering patient information Educate caregivers, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members on carryover strategies Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive therapy environment Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and care planning Assist with equipment cleaning, maintenance, and ordering needs Promote a positive, encouraging atmosphere for children and families Mississippi PTA Requirements (Working Under a Licensed PT) To practice as a PTA in the state of Mississippi, candidates must meet the following: Licensure Requirements Hold an active Mississippi Physical Therapist Assistant License issued by the Mississippi State Board of Physical Therapy Graduate from an accredited PTA program Maintain current CPR certification Complete required continuing education per state regulations Supervision Requirements (Mississippi State Board Standards) Must work under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist PT must provide direct supervision as required by state law, including: Regular review of treatment plans Ongoing communication regarding patient progress Co‑signing documentation when required PTA must only perform interventions within the established plan of care created by the
