Position Summary The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides skilled physical therapy services under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. The PTA assists residents in achieving their individualized rehabilitation goals through therapeutic exercise, mobility and gait training, transfer training, balance activities, strengthening, and other interventions established in the resident's plan of care. The PTA works as an integral member of the interdisciplinary team to promote resident safety, independence, functional improvement, and quality of life. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide physical therapy treatments in accordance with the plan of care established by the Physical Therapist. Assist residents with therapeutic exercises designed to improve strength, endurance, balance, coordination, mobility, and overall function. Provide gait, transfer, wheelchair, and mobility training as appropriate. Educate residents, families, caregivers, and facility staff regarding safe mobility techniques, exercises, positioning, and other therapy recommendations. Observe and document resident responses to treatment and communicate changes in condition or progress to the supervising Physical Therapist. Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with facility, payer, state, and federal requirements. Collaborate with Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, nursing, providers, CNAs, and other members of the interdisciplinary team. Participate in care planning and discharge planning as appropriate. Assist with recommendations for adaptive equipment, assistive devices, positioning, and environmental modifications. Follow established infection prevention, safety, resident-rights, and confidentiality requirements. Promote resident dignity, choice, independence, and quality of life during all interactions. Maintain equipment and treatment areas in a clean and safe condition. Participate in facility quality improvement, education, and interdisciplinary initiatives as requested. Perform other duties consistent with the PTA's education, competency, licensure, and scope of practice. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant education program. Current or eligible Montana Physical Therapist Assistant license. Ability to practice under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist in accordance with Montana requirements. Current CPR/BLS certification or ability to obtain certification as required by the facility. Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team. Skilled nursing, long-term care, geriatric, or rehabilitation experience is preferred but not required.
