Located in the Xcel Fitness Center in Fairfield, New Jersey, our team specializes in chiropractic, physical therapy, acupuncture, massage, hand therapy and orthopedic care. The Physical Therapist Assistant will play a crucial role in assisting the physical therapist with providing quality care to patients. You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population and contribute to their recovery and rehabilitation process. Job Duties include:
- Identifying patient care issues; providing information and commentary, implementing physical therapy directives
- Performs therapeutic procedures by administering manual exercises; instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing physical activities, such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and daily-living activities; and in using supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses.
- Improve patient motor function and promote the capability of patients to function independently
- Assist physical therapists in developing treatment plans
- Direct patients in carrying out specific exercises and treat patients with a variety of therapeutic techniques
- Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records
- Instructs and counsels patients by describing therapeutic regimens; giving normal growth and development information; promoting wellness and health maintenance.
- Monitor and document patient progress during therapy sessions
- Educate patients on proper techniques for exercises and activities
- Assist with patient transfers and positioning during therapy sessions
- Maintain a clean and organized therapy area
Qualifications Include:
- Associate's degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program with a valid state license
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with patients, physicians, and coworkers
- Excellent customer service skills
- Physiological knowledge
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities
