Job Description
Mercy, a leading healthcare organization in the Midwest, is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapy Assistant to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will support physical therapists in delivering evidence-based treatments, assist with patient exercises and mobility training, and document patient progress. You'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to promote recovery, safety, and independence. Responsibilities Support Physical Therapists in delivering treatment plans and restorative care Assist patients with exercises, mobility, and use of therapeutic equipment Monitor, document, and report patient progress in the EHR system Educate patients and families on home exercises and safety practices Maintain a safe, clean clinical environment and follow infection control standards Collaborate with therapists, nurses, and physicians to coordinate care Prepare treatment areas and equipment for therapy sessions Assist with patient transfers, positioning, and use of assistive devices Required Skills Therapeutic exercise implementation Range-of-motion techniques Patient transfer and mobility assistance Gait training Use of physical therapy modalities (e-stim, ultrasound, heat/cold) Vital signs monitoring and documentation Electronic health record (EHR) documentation Infection control and safety procedures Patient and family education Interdisciplinary team communication
