Senior Therapy Technician

  • Work location: Texas Health Ft. Worth, 1301 Pennsylvania Avenue, Ft. Worth, TX 76104
  • Therapy departments - Physical, Occupational, & Speech Language Therapy - Inpatient Acute care, some Outpatient
    Work hours: Full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday 8:00AM-4:30PM, with occasional weekend coverage.

    Here's What You Need
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent with 2 Years Rehab Tech Required Or
    bachelor's degree health related field Required.
  • 2 Years Rehab tech without health related bachelor's degree Required or
    no experience with health related Bachelor's degree Required.
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required.
  • Ability to communicate and respond verbally and in writing to or for patients, family members and staff members.
    What You Will Do
  • Manage patient scheduling and distribution of work flow and assist with supplies and equipment.
  • Main part of the job is direct patient care in conjunction with a Physical or Occupational therapist
  • Prepares patient for treatment using appropriate draping and positioning
    Transports patients to and from treatments using good body mechanics and stretcher/wheelchair safety
    Assists with functional mobility training, gait training, exercise programs and ADL training as specified by therapist
    Assists therapist in set-up of all equipment necessary to perform assessments and treatments
    Communicates changes in patient's condition to therapist and nursing staff
    Effectively assists in multiple areas of the department;
    Identifies problems and proactively seeks solutions.
  • Reviews patient data and charts as requested
    Organizes and maintains patient charts
    Utilizes computer for messaging and necessary patient information
    Assists with scheduling and phone duties
    Helps with faxing and copy needs of the department
    Assists with data collection as requested.
  • Cleans and maintains equipment
    Documents the cleaning and maintenance of equipment
    Maintains department stock items
    Completes safety, stocking and inventory records.
  • Maintains, documents and communicates current CPR and education requirements and obtains all training and education required by the system, hospital and department
    Utilizes available resources to maximize efficiency and productivity and meet departmental needs
    Participates in orientation and training of therapy technicians, students, volunteers and observers
    Represents department in a positive manner in the hospital, system, and community
    Completes assigned work within scheduled hours and offers assistance to others to ensure departmental work is accomplished
    Seeks assistance/supervision/consultation as needed and reports to supervisor any problems and/or solutions regarding delivery of patient care
