A Physician Assistant provides medical care to patients, under the supervision of a physician or surgeon. Works in all areas and specialties of medicine, and is licensed to practice medicine but has less formal certification than a physician. Performs duties delegated by a physician such as recording patient medical histories, ordering diagnostic tests, or giving immunizations. May serve as the primary healthcare provider, in consultation with a part-time physician, in communities with limited health care resources.

Job Description

Coastal Orthopedic & Spine Institute is looking to add an in-office Physician Assistant to our team. We are open to both part time and full time for the right person. We see a variety of orthopedic and pain management conditions and believe in a collaborative approach between the physician and physician assistant.
Duties:
  • Provide medical care to patients under the supervision of a physician
  • Conduct histories, physical examinations and review of images/labs
  • Diagnose and treat common illnesses and injuries
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as lab work and imaging studies
  • Prescribe medications and develop treatment plans
  • Perform minor procedures, such as suture removal and joint injections
  • Execute osteoporosis treatment plans
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records

Skills:
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record systems, such as Athena, or computer skills
  • Knowledge of infection control protocols and practices
  • Experience with suture removal and joint injections preferred, but we are open to someone that is interested in learning that we can train
  • Strong patient care skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with patients of all ages
  • Ability to manage a full day of clinic
  • Knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy
  • Experience with prior authorizations or willingness to learn

Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs of the office. We are open to part-time or full-time position. The salary will be based on experience.
