Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant or RVT to join our emergency team in providing exceptional care to animals in an emergency and specialty veterinary clinic setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal welfare and the ability to assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in delivering high-quality medical care. This role is essential for ensuring the comfort and well-being of our patients while supporting the overall operations of the clinic. Weekend availability is a must in a 24/7 environment. Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and procedures. Provide medication administration as directed by the veterinarian. Perform animal handling tasks, ensuring safety and comfort for all animals. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including surgical areas and exam rooms. Prepare animals for procedures by ensuring they are calm and comfortable. Monitor animal behavior and health, reporting any concerns to the veterinarian. Support front desk operations by greeting clients, scheduling appointments, and managing patient records. Educate pet owners on proper animal care practices Skills Knowledge of animal physiology and animal anatomy is essential for understanding medical conditions and treatments. Experience in veterinary critical care is a plus, enhancing the ability to respond to emergencies effectively. Familiarity with medication administration protocols ensures safe treatment of patients. Strong background in animal handling techniques to ensure safe interactions with various species. Previous experience in a veterinary clinic setting is required to facilitate smooth integration into our team. Proficiency in front desk operations to assist with client interactions and administrative tasks. Excellent communication skills to effectively convey information to both clients and team members.
