Advanced Practice Provider (APP) - Urgent Care | Gainesville Florida Orthopaedic Institute - 3.0 Gainesville, FL Job Details Full-time 4 days ago Qualifications BLS Certification ACLS Certification DEA License Advanced practice provider Full Job Description Position Summary Under the supervision and collaboration of a physician, the Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) will assess, plan, and provide direct patient care within the FOI North Central Florida Urgent Care setting. The APP will perform comprehensive patient evaluations, obtain and compile patient medical histories, conduct physical examinations, order and interpret appropriate diagnostic testing, develop treatment plans, and provide follow-up care for patients presenting with acute orthopaedic injuries and conditions. This position requires an experienced provider who is comfortable working in a fast-paced urgent care environment and independently evaluating and managing patients while collaborating with physicians and other members of the clinical team as appropriate. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited PA or APRN program Current Florida state license as a PA or
APRN NCCPA
certification (for PA) or national certification as an APRN Emergency medicine, trauma, urgent care, or a comparable high-acuity setting is required (3+ years). Previous orthopaedic or musculoskeletal experience is strongly preferred. BLS and ACLS certification required Self-starter with excellent organizational and communication skills Local candidates highly encouraged to apply Key Responsibilities Obtaining detailed medical histories, performing comprehensive physical examinations, and providing direct patient care to patients presenting to the Urgent Care. Evaluating and treating acute orthopaedic injuries and conditions within the provider's scope of practice. Ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic studies, including X-rays, imaging, and laboratory testing as clinically indicated. Performing patient evaluations and initiating appropriate treatment plans in collaboration with the supervising or attending physician as needed. Evaluating and treating common musculoskeletal injuries, including fractures, sprains, strains, dislocations, and other acute orthopaedic conditions. Applying and removing casts, splints, braces, and other forms of immobilization as appropriate. Prescribing medications and therapeutic treatments in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and scope of practice. Identifying patients requiring a higher level of care and coordinating appropriate escalation or transfer to an emergency department when necessary. Notifying the supervising or attending physician regarding unusual or unexpected events, significant changes in patient condition, or problems requiring direct physician consultation. Writing and documenting progress notes indicating patient status, assessment, treatment, and procedures performed; maintaining other records as required. Coordinating appropriate follow-up care with FOI physicians, specialists, therapy, imaging, or other clinical services. Providing health education to patients and families, including treatment plans, medications, activity restrictions, follow-up care, and return precautions. Practicing appropriate safety, environmental, and infection control methods. Collaborating with patient care and support staff to ensure efficient patient flow and delivery of high-quality care. Enhancing professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops. May participate in clinical research as appropriate. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Schedule Full-Time Monday -
Friday:
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Potential weekend availability based on patient and operational needs. Additional compensation may be available for evening/weekend coverage. Licensure & Certification Current and unrestricted Florida license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, or ability to obtain prior to start date. Current national certification applicable to the provider's discipline. Physician Assistants must meet applicable NCCPA certification requirements. Nurse Practitioners must maintain applicable national board certification. Current BLS certification required. DEA registration required or ability to obtain as applicable to the position. Must meet all applicable credentialing and privilege requirements.
