Job Description

HCES is looking for a Physician Assistant for a Contracted Role. This role offers a dynamic work environment where you can utilize your medical and technical skills across various specialties. Projected Contracted Rate:
$60/hr - $80/hr plus a stipend given for the assignment
Location:
US Virgin Islands Physician Assistants shall be able to perform the following: 1. Interviews and examines inmate patients upon arrival at the facility as part of the intake assessment screening. 2. Performs annual examinations to identify new diagnoses and prescribe treatment under the supervision of a physician. 3. Provides continuation of medical care for inmate patients with chronic medical conditions. 4. Performs routine procedures such as electrocardiogram (EKG), IM /SC injections, foley insertion, venipuncture, immunizations, wound repair, and wound care. 5. Instructs and counsels inmate patients in laboratory, radiology, emergency room and specialist evaluations and results. 6. Educates inmate patients about disease pathophysiology and therapy under a physician's supervision. 7. Addresses inmate patients' acute medical concerns through the sick call process. 8. Provides assistance to the health services team with updating and maintaining inmate patients' medical records. 9. Provides assistance with ensuring the workspace remains organized and clean. Communicates effectively with mental health, medical and security staff as well as other entities involved with inmate's continuity of care. Physician assistants shall work eight hours per day for five days each week or 12 hours for four days each week. The role may require the person to be on call, and some telework as needed. Days and times will be variable based on the needs of the facility. This is contracted position.
