A Physician Assistant provides medical care to patients, under the supervision of a physician or surgeon. Works in all areas and specialties of medicine, and is licensed to practice medicine but has less formal certification than a physician. Performs duties delegated by a physician such as recording patient medical histories, ordering diagnostic tests, or giving immunizations. May serve as the primary healthcare provider, in consultation with a part-time physician, in communities with limited health care resources.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Emergency Department Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides routine and emergency medical care, under the supervision of a licensed physician.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
1. Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner training program and NCPAA or AANP certification2. Two to three years of post-graduate work experience in an Emergency Department3. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification4.
