We are seeking a Physician Assistant for a locum tenens inpatient Cardiology assignment in central Illinois. This is a hospital-based position focused primarily on inpatient rounding with a Monday-Friday daytime schedule and one weekend of coverage per month. The provider will work alongside an established cardiology team at a large Level I trauma hospital.
What you will be doing:
Provide inpatient cardiology coverage and round on approximately 12-15 patients per day. Work Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM-3:30 PM. Provide in-house rounding coverage one weekend per month. Manage adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Remove pericardial drains and temporary transvenous pacemakers as needed. Focus exclusively on inpatient care; there is no clinic responsibility. Work with nursing staff and clinic RNs to coordinate patient care and discharges.
What you must have:
Physician Assistant credentials. Current ACLS and BLS certification. Ability to obtain hospital privileges and complete required credentialing. Ability to perform the limited procedures required for the assignment, including removal of pericardial drains and temporary transvenous pacemakers.
Other Information:
Compensation:
$115/hour Travel and lodging provided or reimbursed. Hospital setting with approximately 509 beds. Level I Trauma Center.

Epic. Approximately 90 days should be allowed for full hospital privileges and payer enrollment. Temporary privileges can usually be granted within 30 days of completing your file.
