This unique opportunity offers exposure to a broad spectrum of neurological and neurosurgical care, including neurosurgery, neurocritical care, neurointerventional radiology, and elective neurosurgical procedures.

As part of a highly collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in delivering advanced patient care while developing expertise across multiple neuroscience specialties. This position is ideal for APPs who thrive in a fast-paced environment and are seeking professional growth, procedural experience, and leadership opportunities.

Advanced Clinical PracticeWorking collaboratively with attending physicians and multidisciplinary teams, you will:
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage complex neurosurgical and neurocritical care patients.
  • Conduct patient assessments, daily rounds, and develop treatment plans.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic studies.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families.
  • Perform advanced bedside procedures, including:
  • Intracranial monitoring placement
  • External ventricular drain (EVD) management
  • VP shunt taps
  • Suturing and wound management
  • First assist in the operating room when needed.
Ideal CandidateWe are looking for APPs who demonstrate:
  • Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills.

  • A commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice.
  • Interest in developing expertise across the continuum of neuroscience care.
QualificationsNurse Practitioners
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
  • Completion of an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Active Maryland Nurse Practitioner license.
Physician Assistants
  • Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • NCCPA certification required.
  • Active Maryland Physician Assistant license.
Preferred Experience
  • One year of experience in neurosurgery, neurocritical care, or a related neuroscience specialty.
  • ATLS certification preferred.
Required Certifications
  • BLS and ACLS certification.
  • Eligible for credentialing through the University of Maryland Capital Region Health Medical Staff Office.
