A Physician Assistant provides medical care to patients, under the supervision of a physician or surgeon. Works in all areas and specialties of medicine, and is licensed to practice medicine but has less formal certification than a physician. Performs duties delegated by a physician such as recording patient medical histories, ordering diagnostic tests, or giving immunizations. May serve as the primary healthcare provider, in consultation with a part-time physician, in communities with limited health care resources.

Job Description

Position:
Family Medicine Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Reports to:
Chief Medical Director Position Summary:
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will provide health care services to patients under the direction of a physician. APPs are academically and clinically trained to perform many of the routine but time-consuming tasks that physicians usually do and are accountable for their own actions and accountable to their supervising physicians.
Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Examine patients, take medical history, record results, make diagnoses, and decide on follow-up recommendations 2. Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, bloodwork, cultures, etc. 3. Perform therapeutic procedures such as injections and suturing. 4. Exercise professional judgment regarding consultation with physicians concerning appropriate treatment 5. Develop and implement patient care plans, counsel patients, and record progress 6. Prescribe medications to the extent allowable by state guidelines and clinic regulations 7. Provide general health education regarding matters such as proper diet, family planning, emotional problems, and health maintenance 8. Assist other providers with emergency treatments and more complex procedures when needed
Position Qualifications:
1. Completion of a four-year baccalaureate program 2. Completion of an accredited physician assistant or nurse practitioner program including the full duration of didactic and clinical training. 3.
For physician assistants:
current state of Michigan PA license, maintaining NCCPA certification, including passing the NCCPA recertification examination every six to 10 years and logging 100 hours of continuing medical education every two years 4.
For nurse practitioners:
MSN with nurse practitioner license for the state of Michigan through ANCC or AANP, renewed state of Michigan nurse practitioner license every two years, and a renewed national license every five years 5. Current CPR Certification required (ACLS preferred) 6. Valid Michigan Driver's License 7. Current Immunization Records 8. Must be able to meet and maintain current DayOne credentialing and privileging requirements.
Special Requirements:
Must be willing to work evening hours and weekends when necessary
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and moving. Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times. Frequent exposure to chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, and patient body fluids.

Full-time Pay:
$100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
