What they do

A Physician Assistant provides medical care to patients, under the supervision of a physician or surgeon. Works in all areas and specialties of medicine, and is licensed to practice medicine but has less formal certification than a physician. Performs duties delegated by a physician such as recording patient medical histories, ordering diagnostic tests, or giving immunizations. May serve as the primary healthcare provider, in consultation with a part-time physician, in communities with limited health care resources.

Job Description

UNC Health Blue Ridge is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant at our Blue Ridge Cancer Center

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Licensure Requirements Completion of an accredited graduate -level Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) program. Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (i.e., Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant) in the state of North Carolina or eligible.
Professional Experience Requirements:
At least 2+ year as a Hematology/ Oncology NP is required Prefer candidates with past experience in Hematology and or oncology setting Job duties and expectations: See a variety of hematology and oncology patients, including managing a benign hematology caseload See pretreat patients prior to chemotherapy treatments Complete all chemo education with patients prior to new or changing treatments Support the medical oncologist to see any patients that are having symptoms or concerns Review patient labs and test results to approve treatments
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
Demonstrated clinical competency. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Demonstrated written and verbal communication and strong analytical skills. Effective interaction and care of patients Documentation of medical records for accurate billing
