Works in concert with an orthopedist, and is licensed to practice medicine but has less formal certification than a physician. Performs duties delegated by a physician such as recording patient medical histories, ordering diagnostic tests, or giving immunizations.

Job Description

What We Offer As an OR Assistant at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center you'll support the needs of the surgical team to ensure the patient and the rooms are ready for surgery. You will assist with safe patient handling, preparation, and maintenance of the surgical environment. Rowan Medical Center is Novant's 4th's largest hospital, serving the Rowan County area since 1936. Your work will support 8 operating rooms and a large team of surgical services professionals. The ORs here see a variety of cases including ortho, ENT, general, and GYN. This is an excellent opportunity for someone new to healthcare who is looking to grow their skills. What You'll Do Review assignment with the nurse to receive direction for priority of work according to patient needs Gather supplies / instruments / equipment pertinent to scheduled procedure Prepare and/or open supplies / instruments / equipment pertinent to the scheduled procedure Restock operating rooms, solutions and warmers Assist with the transportation, transfer, preparation, and positioning of patients Perform pre-operative clip preps Assist with turnover of the operating room in a timely, efficient manner Secure patient in proper position for administration of regional anesthetics and surgical prep
What We're Looking For Education :
High School Diploma or GED, required. Some education in healthcare or an interest in pursuing a career in healthcare is preferred.
Experience :
1 year of professional or healthcare work history, required. Additional Skills (required): Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skill validation and competency testing. Demonstrate effective and appropriate customer service skills, verbal and nonverbal communication techniques, interpersonal relationship skills, and time management skills. Why Choose Novant Health?
